Tematys welcomes it’s newest member – Arturo Elías Llumbet, PhD as a European Projects Manager.
He obtained his BS degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of Havana, Cuba, with Summa Cum Laude. He received the Scientific Merit Award from the Rector of the University of Havana and was the Valedictorian of the Faculty of Biology in the graduation ceremony. After his undergraduate studies he directly pursued a doctorate program, obtaining his PhD degree in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Groningen, The Netherlands, and the University of Chile. His PhD thesis focused on the implementation and exploration of new applications of NV fluorescent nanodiamonds as quantum sensors of free radicals in the context of arthritis, cancer, and cardiovascular diseases. During his research career, he covered dissimilar topics, worked with various cell types, and performed mouse multi-organ studies, harnessing the interrogation power of photonics technologies such as confocal microscopy (CLSM), two-photon microscopy (TPM), fluorescence-activated cell sorting (FACS), and surface plasmon resonance (SPR).
